GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina Men's Basketball has officially announced the signing of forward Trevion LaBeaux on Thursday afternoon.
Â
The Waterloo, Iowa native arrives in Greenville after competing at Indian Hills Community College where he averaged 13.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game last season to earn first team NJCAA All-American Honors while being tabbed the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Year.
Â
The ICCAC's leading scorer and rebounder also shot over 50 percent from the floor for the second consecutive season while posting personal bests in three-point shooting percentage (34.9) and free throw shooting percentage (73.2).
Â
LaBeaux appeared in 32 games as a true freshman in 2022-23, including 15 starts and scored in double figures in three of Indian Hills' four postseason games including twice at the NJCAA Tournament. He also excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the 2023 Spring and 2022 Fall ICCAC All-Academic Second-Team and was a member of the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.
Â
"Trevion is one of those players that coaches get excited speaking about," head coach Michael Schwartz said. "He possesses an 'it' factor that translates to wins as evidenced by his highly decorated career at Indian Hills. He can play anywhere on the floor and has made it clear from day one that he is willing to do whatever it takes for the team to be successful. He has true defensive versatility and possesses an athletic touch in the mid-range and in the paint. We are thrilled to bring his combination of talent and character to the Pirates."
Â
LaBeaux reached two Final Fours at the NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball National Tournament and helped lead Indian Hills to back-to-back NJCAA Region 11 Titles and the 2024 NJCAA North Central District Championship. He also became the third player in Indian Hills history to earn All-American honors while making back-to-back trips to the Final Four.Â
Â
Prior to his time in Ottumwa with Indian Hills, LaBeaux attended Ames High School where he averaged 15.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game to earn a spot on the 4A All-Tournament team and helped the Little Cyclones capture the 2022 4A Iowa State Championship.
