GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina junior RHP Trey Yesavage and freshman LHP Ethan Norby have been named to the Perfect Game All-America Teams according to a release by the organization. Yesavage was tabbed to the First Team while Norby earned First Team Freshman All-America status.
Â
Yesavage, who was tabbed to the NCBWA All-America First Team Wednesday, now has six career All-America citations to his credit while Norby's selection is the first Freshman All-America pick for the Pirates since Jacob Jenkins-Cowart was recognized by D1Baseball in 2022. Norby is also the 10th Freshman All-America designee in head coach Cliff Godwin's 10-year tenure.
Â
Yesavage produced one of the finest campaigns in program history in 2024 as he was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy. He was also named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Atlantic Region First Team Tuesday. As of the conclusion of the Super Regional round of the NCAA Baseball Championship, Yesavage slots second nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (4.73), third in both earned run average (2.03) and WHIP (0.87), fifth in strikeouts (145) and victories (11) and ninth in strikeouts per nine innings (13.98). He also tied the program single season record for strikeouts, matching Jake Agnos' 145 that he posted in 2019.
Â
Norby, who slotted into ECU's weekend rotation for the latter half of the season and earned AAC All-Freshman Team accolades, compiled a 4-0 record, 3.79 earned run average and two saves with 63 strikeouts against 25 walks in 59.1 innings of work. He started 10 games over 20 appearances and held opposing hitters to a .243 batting average. Norby collected his first collegiate victory in the UAB series finale March 30th, tossing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He nabbed additional victories over Old Dominion, NC State and Evansville. Norby also became the first Pirate pitcher to collect 10 or more strikeouts in a relief appearance since Jake Agnos in 2017 when he fanned 10 ODU batters in 4.2 frames in a 7-5 East Carolina victory April 10th.
