
Ritchie Selected By Philadelphia In 19th Round Of 2024 MLB Draft

ARLINGTON, Texas – East Carolina sophomore LHP Erik Ritchie was taken in the 19th round (582nd overall) of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday by the Philadelphia Phillies. He represents the 28th Pirate draft pick under head coach Cliff Godwin.
Ritchie is the sixth ECU player drafted in 2024, marking the most in a single season for the program since seven Pirates were selected in 2019.
In a team second-best 28 appearances with four starts, Ritchie concluded the 2024 campaign with a 1-1 record, 6.67 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 29.2 innings of work. He also limited opposing hitters to a .200 batting average. In American Athletic Conference play, Ritchie racked up 11 strikeouts in 9.1 frames. He posted a season-high five strikeouts at UTSA on March 24 and tallied multiple strikeouts in eight of his outings.
