
Men’s Golf Earns GCAA Academic Team Honor

NORMAN, Okla. – The East Carolina men's golf team has been named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) the organization announced Tuesday. The Pirates compiled a 3.64 GPA for the 2023-24 academic year earning the Presidents Special Recognition (3.5 or higher) while marking the 12th time since 2009 garnering the team accolade.

ECU was one of 131 NCAA Division I teams recognized for having a team GPA o 3.00 or higher (one of 59 with 3.5 or better) and the lone institution from the American Athletic Conference to earn the Presidents Special Recognition. Fellow AAC members Charlotte, South Florida and UTSA were among those lauded for All-Academic Team honors (3.0 or higher).

In July of 2024, golfers Lucas Augustsson, Philip Linberg Bondestad, Tyler DeChellis and Ethan Hall were selected as 2023-24 Cobalt All-America Scholars. Augustsson and Bondestad were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large All-District selections, while all 10 members from the 2023-24 squad earned inclusion on the AAC All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year.
