
Pirates Tee Off Fall Season At Cardinal Cup On Friday

Louisville, Ky. – The East Carolina women's golf team is set to get its 2024-25 season underway on Friday morning when the Pirates tee off their fall season at the Cardinal Cup.

The three-day, 54-hole event, hosted by the University of Louisville, will be contested at the par-72, 6,374-yard University of Louisville Golf Club.

East Carolina will field a lineup of Nicole Nash, Danielle Modder, Marta Perez, Macie Burcham and Lisa Forss while Andrea Miralles will compete as an individual.

Joining the Pirates and tournament host Louisville will be Toledo, Mercer, Bellarmine, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, James Madison, Marshall, Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee State, Rutgers and Western Kentucky. Teams will begin teeing off on holes 1 and 10 at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.

ECU returns eight golfers from last year's team in Nash, Perez, Burcham, Miralles, Modder, Ella Stalvey, Grayson Warren and Zoe Allaux. Nash led the Pirates with a 73.56 scoring average as a freshman and captured individualist honors at the Ironwood Invitational, shooting 2-under par 214 to help the Pirates win the tournament. Modder competed in all 10 of the Pirates' events over the fall and spring to card a 74.00 scoring average while Burcham had a career-best season with a top-10 finish and a 74.33 scoring average. The team is coming off a strong finish to their spring season as the Pirates placed in the top-five in four of their five spring tournaments, including a first-place finish at the Ironwood Invitational.

The Pirates also added two newcomers in Forss and Karsyn Roberts. Forss was the champion of the 2023 Svenska Junior Tour Elit #5 and captured individual honors at the 2023 Titleist Junior Masters Invitational and 2023 Ljunghusen Junior Games. The Gothenburg, Sweden native finished third at the 2023 Svenska Junior Tour Division 1 Forsgarden #2 and placed sixth at the 2023 Svenska Junior Tour Division 1 Örebro City #4. Roberts was a Medalist and semifinalist at the 2023 North Carolina Junior Girls Championship and won the 2023 PKBGT Precision Junior Girls Championship The Pikeville native placed third at the 2023 Carolinas Twin States Championship, finished fourth at the 2023 PKBGT National Tour Championship and was a runner-up at the 2022 PKBGT National Cutter Creek Girls Championship.
