Pirates Announce 2024 Fall Schedule

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team will compete in four contests at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium this fall as part of its eight-game fall ball slate according to an announcement by fourth-year head coach Shane Winkler.

All eight games will be 10 innings and the four home games are free to the public.

The Pirates open their fall schedule with a two-game homestand against UNC Pembroke (Sept. 29) and Barton (Oct. 4) before two-game road trip against Duke (Oct. 5) and Campbell (Oct. 6). ECU will host Chowan (Oct. 11) and then travel to Wilmington to battle UNCW the following week (Oct. 19). The team will play Elon (Oct. 27) at home before concluding fall play at NC State (Nov. 1).

East Carolina returns the majority of its roster from last year's team that went 38-19 and tallied 13 AAC wins behind a potent offense led by All-AAC members Emma Jackson and Morgan Johnson as the duo combined for 26 of the Pirates' 44 home runs. Jackson finished second in the country in doubles (24) doubles while Johnson added 13 home runs and 47 RBI.

Taylor Apple returns in the circle off of an impressive freshman campaign (2.62 ERA, 106 strikeouts) that led to an All-AAC Rookie Team spot and Jordan Hatch returns for her fourth season to add experience to the Pirates' pitching staff. The Pirates also added Chloe Geijer and Trinity Nichols in the offseason along with five freshmen (Kendall Frost, Ava Fisher, Brooke Masingale, Jenna Krol, Gabby Fowler).
