GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team heads back out on the road on Wednesday for an in-state tilt with rival Charlotte. The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. tip off, streaming on ESPN+
The Pirates will be looking to win not only a second straight American Athletic Conference game but also a second win in a row in the Queen City after downing the 49ers in Halton Arena last season, previously having not won at Charlotte since 1998.

Last Time Out
The Pirates got back in the win column with a huge fourth quarter effort to down Tulane on Saturday. A 27-11 final period which featured an 18-2 run erased an eight-point third-quarter deficit for a double-digit win. Devin Hagemann had a breakout game with 21 points in the game on four made threes while Jayla Hearp added 15 points and Amiya Joyner gabbed 12 rebounds. All 10 ECU players who appeared in the game scored.
Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers enter the game with a 5-10 record and as late embattled with a five-game losing skid. It was a close affair with Tulsa last time out but the team dropped to 0-4 in league play nonetheless. For the season, Hayleigh Breland is the lone Niner in double figures with 12.2 points per game to go with 5.7 rebounds per game for a Charlotte team scoring only 59.1 points per game.
Series History
The Pirates and 49ers have a long history going back to 1982 with Charlotte owning a 26-12 record in the all-time series. Since becoming American Athletic Conference foes, however, it's a 2-0 edge for the Pirates last season with the most recent meeting coming in the regular season finale in the Queen City, a 71-66 win. Danae McNeal poured in 25 while Amiya Joyner posted a 19-point, 16-rebound game, along with four assists on the day.
Weekly Recognition
Devin Hagemann was named Freshman of the Week by the American Athletic Conference on Monday after scoring 21 points on four made threes with three assists against Tulane. It is the rookie's first career weekly honor and comes after improving her career best scoring output by 16 points. Remarkably, the 21 point outburst came after being held scoreless in the two prior games.
Rebounding Dominance
After posting 20 offensive rebounds against Tulane, the Pirates now rank 12th in the NCAA with 16.2 offensive rebounds per game. It was the team's fifth 20-plus offensive rebound outing of the season.
