Last Time Out
The Pirates saw victory slip away at the death against South Florida on Saturday as Vittoria Blasigh scored the game-winning basket with 1.1 seconds remaining. ECU had led for over 30 minutes of game time, including by 10 points with under seven minutes remaining, but saw the lead dissipate down the stretch. The team did take the lead back twice in the final minutes, including on a Jayla Hearp triple with 4.4 to play, but the Bulls had their answer.Â
Scouting Wichita State
The Shockers enter the game carrying a 7-14 record and a 1-7 mark in league play after falling to UAB by just three points in overtime on Saturday. Jayla Murray scored a game-high 20 points for the Shockers in the game. For the season, Murray paces the team with 12.5 points per game while also leading the way with 5.4 rebounds per. Salese Blow joins Murray in double figures scoring at 11.3 per game while four other Wichita State players average five-or-more points per contest.
Series History
The Pirates and Shockers have met only 11 times, dating back to 2018, with a 7-4 lead for ECU in those matchups, including four consecutive entering Wednesday. Last season, it was a 72-52 ECU victory in Kansas in which Danae McNeal scored 23 points and Tatyana Wyche had a career day with 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks, third most in program history.
My Oh MyMy
With five points on Saturday, Amiya Joyner is now just 12Â shy of 1,000 career points. When she reaches the milestone, she will be the 26th thousand-point scorer in program history and just the second with 1,000Â points and 100-or-more blocks (Marcia Girven). Additionally, with 777 rebounds for her career she has moved her into 20th in American Athletic Conference history in the category.
