Philadelphia, Pa. – East Carolina returns to play following its bye week this Saturday when the Pirates travel to the City of Brotherly Love to face Temple for the second time this season in American Athletic Conference action at The Liacouras Center.
The game is set to tip at 2 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+ with Ray Dunne (play-by-play) and Marc Jackson (analyst) on the call. Pirate fans can also tune in to 107.9 WNCT FM, 94.3 The Game or download the IBX app to hear Daron Vaught call the action.
The Pirates are led in scoring by All-AAC Preseason First Team guard RJ Felton's 17.9 points per game and the senior leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game. C.J. Walker supplies secondary scoring with 16.8 ppg and adds 6.8 rebounds per game while Jordan Riley averages 14.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg and a league-high 2.2 steals per game to round out ECU's double figure scorers. The trio of Felton, Walker, Riley makes up 65 percent of the Pirates' point production.
Last Time Out
C.J. Walker scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds as East Carolina defeated South Florida, 64-55, on Saturday afternoon inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. RJ Felton and Jordan Riley each added 12 points for the Pirates who have won three straight games in the AAC for the second consecutive season.
Scouting the Owls
Temple is coming off a 90-89, double overtime win at home against Charlotte on Wednesday evening as the Owls won their ninth straight game at The Liacouras Center. Jamal Mashburn Jr. is one of four Owls averaging double figures in scoring with 21.6 points per game (2nd in AAC) and the Owls are one of the best offensive teams in the American, ranking third with 79.4 points per game. Like the Pirates, Temple gets to the free throw line at a high rate, averaging 26.4 attempts per game (7th in NCAA).
Series History
Temple leads the all-time series East Carolina, 11-7, but the Pirates enter Saturday's contest having won the last three meetings in the series, including a 80-79 win at Minges on Jan. 8 behind Jayshayne Woodard's game-winning shot in the final seconds. ECU is 1-6 at The Liacouras Center, picking up its first win last year, 73-62.
On This Date
The Pirates are 11-9 in games played on Feb. 1 with the last game coming during the 2022-23 season, a 71-63 loss at South Florida. The last time ECU won on this date was in 2014-15 when the Pirates outlasted Cincinnati, 50-46, inside Minges Coliseum.
