PHILADELPHIA, P.A. — East Carolina Volleyball dives back into action on Friday, traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Temple Owls (11-7, 1-3 American), with a quick turnaround coming home to face Florida Atlantic for the second time in conference.
The Pirates (9-6, 1-3 American) were able to solidify their first win and first sweep in conference against Tulane on Sunday, outkilling the Green Wave 47-34 with a hitting percentage of .241.
Sophomore setter Taryn Gilreath led the charge, making history against Tulane with the second triple-double in program history, with her performance leading the Pirates to victory. Gilreath was able to end the match with 10 kills, 14 assists and 11 digs. The first triple-double recorded for the program was in 2018 by Shelby Martin with 10 kills, 14 digs and 34 assists.Â
A LOOK INTO TEMPLEÂ
Temple is currently 11-7 overall and 1-3 in conference. The Owls are currently on a three-match losing streak, having been swept by Tulane and Florida Atlantic and then defeated by South Florida in four sets. The Owls have Graduate Student Leia Harper, who leads the team in kills (205) and digs (167), while also being second in service aces (17) and fourth in blocks (24).Â
The last time Temple faced East Carolina was back in November of 2024, where the Pirates were able to scrape by in five close sets, with the first three sets having a maximum of three-point differences. East Carolina has been able to come out victorious against Temple since 2022. Four of the last six wins against the Owls have been in McGonigle Hall.Â
A LOOK INTO FLORIDA ATLANTIC
Looking forward to Sunday's match, Florida Atlantic is currently 12-5 overall, and 3-1 in conference. FAU started in conference with a loss against South Florida, but quickly picked up against East Carolina the last time they faced them. The last time the Owls were in Greenville was back in 2024, when the Pirates swept 3-0, maintaining at least a five-point difference in each set. FAU holds the overall series 4-3, with the away and home records being tied at 2-2 and 1-1.Â
