Atlanta, Ga. – The East Carolina swimming and diving team finished with a third-place finish at the Georgia Tech Invitational over the weekend.
The three-day invitational was held at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
East Carolina competed against host Georgia Tech as well as Missouri, Auburn, Duke and Virginia Tech. Frida Zuniga led the Pirates' divers with a third-place finish in the 1-meter (277.85) as well as a third-place finish in the platform dive (260.45).
"Another strong outing for our divers going up against some of the best divers in the country and very pleased with how they competed all meet.," head coach Matthew Jabs said. "Frida continues to show she is one of the best in the American Conference and the entire southeast. For our freshman, it was a great learning experience, and I'm very proud of our returners doing an excellent job of mentoring them. The ECU divers are a special group and Ryan (McIntire) is doing an excellent job coaching them. This meet will help prepare them for our conference championship in February."
Freshman Romina Hernandez also had a strong weekend, placing 10th in the 3-meter (259.95) and 13th in the platform (190.05).
East Carolina's swimming team returns to action next week at the Gamecock Invitational Nov. 19-21.
