Â

Â
Last Time Out
The Pirates dropped a home test against a very good James Madison team on Wednesday. The team led by as many as eight in the first half but suffered some untimely scoring droughts as the Dukes were able to retake the lead in the second quarter before leading by as many as 21. The Pirates were out rebounded, 48-26, in the game which ultimately proved critical to the final result. Senior guard Kennedy Fauntleroy led three ECU players into double-figure scoring with 17 points in the game.
Â
Scouting Elon
The Phoenix enter the game with a 3-4 record on the year after downing North Dakota in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Black Friday. The team has earned their other victories against ETSU and Presbyterian. On the year, no Elon players are scoring in double figures as six players are averaging 6.6 points per game or higher, led by LaNae Corbett's 62 points scored in seven games. As a team, the Phoenix face a negative scoring margin through their first seven contests, but only by a narrow margin for a schedule which includes a top-15 North Carolina squad and American Conference foe Tulane.
Â
Series History
The Pirates and Phoenix have met 13 times since an inaugural contest in the 1973 NCAIAW Tournament, with an 11-2 lead for ECU all time, including winning the last nine. The Pirates hosted Elon in Minges Coliseum a season ago, a 60-43 result which saw Khia Miller put up one of her better efforts with 24 points on 8-13 shooting. Amiya Joyner was the only other Pirate in double figures with 12 points.
Â

2025-26 is the Pirates' seventh under the tutelage of Kim McNeill. The program has an 91-97 record under her leadership.
Â
Reclaim
Each season the Pirates choose an important word, meaningful to the team, to put on the back of their practice jerseys. In 2025-26, the team chose the word "Reclaim", signifying the group's goals after a turbulent 2024-25 of returning to their roots as a defensive minded team, getting back to their standards as role models in the community and striving for excellence in the classroom.
