GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina returns home after a two-game road trip as the regular season winds down with the Pirates hosting UTSA on Sunday afternoon inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.Â
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Patrick Johnson (play-by-play) and Si Seymour (analyst) on the call and Gabby Sartori (sideline) reporting from the baseline. Pirate fans can also tune in to 107.9 WNCT FM, 94.3 The Game or download the IBX app to hear Jim Szoke call the action.Â
The Pirates are led in scoring by graduate forward C.J. Walker's 18.3 points per game (4th in AAC) and the six-year veteran adds 6.8 rebounds per game as well. Preseason All-AAC First Team guard RJ Felton adds 18.0 (5th in AAC) points per night and leads the team in rebounding with seven boards per game while Jordan Riley averages 14.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg and two steals per game to round out ECU's top scorers. The trio of Felton, Walker, Riley makes up 66 percent of the Pirates' point production.
Last Time Out
Jordan Riley scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds but East Carolina saw its three-game winning streak snapped as the Pirates fell at Tulane, 86-81, on Wednesday evening at Avron B. Fogelman Arena.
Scouting the Roadrunners
UTSA comes into Sunday on a five-game skid but all of the Roadrunners' last five losses have been by five points or less, a 78-73 loss at home to South Florida being the most recent. Primo Spears leads UTSA in scoring with 19.7 points per game (3rd in AAC, 22nd in NCAA). UTSA leads the American in threes made per game at 9.8.Â
Series History
East Carolina leads the all-time series with UTSA 4-0 as the Pirates rallied from a nine-point deficit and defeated the Roadrunners earlier in the month, 80-79, on C.J. Walker's last-second jumper in San Antonio. This will be only the second time that the Roadrunners have visited Minges Coliseum with the other only time occurring on Feb. 8, 2014 when UTSA and ECU were Conference USA foes.
On This Date
The Pirates are 14-3 in games played on Feb. 23 with the last game on this date coming during the 2021-22 season when ECU defeated South Florida, 64-60. ECU has won the last five games it has played on Feb. 23.
