
Nathan O’Neal Wins ECU Intercollegiate Title, Pirates Take Second

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina sophomore Nathan O'Neal posted a third-round score of 74 (2-over) and a 54-hole tournament score of 211 (5-under) to claim his first collegiate individual title at the 2025 ECU Intercollegiate golf tournament. The two-day event was being held at the Brook Valley Country Club (par-72, 6,803 yards).
"I am extremely proud of the way Nathan and the rest of the team played this week," said ECU Director of Golf/Men's Head Coach Kevin Williams. Nathan is one of the hardest workers on the team and it was great to see all that hard work payoff for him and witnessing his first collegiate golf title."
East Carolina finished second in the event with a 20-over par score of 884 (294-294-296) finishing 12 strokes behind UCF (872/8-over). UConn (894/30-over) placed third ahead of Temple (902/38-over) and Morehead State (903/39-over) rounding out the top five.
Nathan O'Neal posted rounds of 69, 68 and 74 for a score of 211 (5-under) taking medalist honors by four strokes over Auburn's Reed Lotter who finished second at 215 (1-under/76-67-72). Auburn's Billy Davis (71-73-72) and IU Indy's Titus Boswell (75-68-3) shared third place with an even par 216, while ECU junior Philip Linberg Bondestad (74-73-70), Morehead State's Seamus Bogan (74-72-71), and UCF's Clemente (71-75-71) finished tied for fifth at 217 (1-under). For their play, all seven individuals earned all-tournament team honors.
Senior Carter Busse posted a score of 225 (9-over) following rounds of 73, 75 and 77 finishing tied for 27th, while fellow classmate Tyle DeChellis claimed a share of 61st with a score of 234 (78-78-78). Rounding out the Pirates' starting five was freshman Luke Mosley who carded a score of 235 (79-81-75) for a share of 68th place.
Competing as individuals for ECU were sophomore Drew O'Neal (22nd place/223), freshman Holden Rucker (t24th place/224) and junior Davis DeLille (52nd place/233). Sophomore Adam Lennermark, also playing as an individual, withdrew in the final round due to an injury.
The Pirates return to the golf course on Friday, March 28 when they co-host the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate with Elon. The three-day event will be played in Snow Hill, N.C. at the Cutter Creek Golf Club.
