
Three Pirates Named to CSC Academic All-District Teams

GREENVILLE, N.C. -Â East Carolina women's basketball's Jayla Hearp, Bobbi Smith and Anzhané Hutton have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-Disctrict Team, the organization announced Tuesday.Â
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
It is the first such honor for each player and is earned by achieving excellence in the classroom and on the court. To be eligible, athletes but have a 3.50 GPA or greater and play in 90 percent of their team's games - or start 66 percent of those contests.
Hearp, a junior Marketing major with a 3.54 GPA, appeared in all 32 games for the Pirates with 31 starts on the year, scoring 9.9 points per game, second most on the team.
Smith, a junior Public Health major with a 3.55GPA, appeared in 29 games for the Pirates this season. This is Smith's second year in a row earning Academic All-District accolades.
Lastly, Hutton, a graduate student pursuing a postgraduate degree in Recreation Sciences with a 4.0 graduate GPA, appeared in all 32 games, making 18 starts on the season, while averaging 7.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
