Pirates Set to Host 11th Annual Bill Carson Invitational
March 27, 2025 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field team is set to host the 11th Annual Bill Carson Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Bate Foundation Track & Field Facility.
Â
The Pirates will be welcoming competitors from Campbell, Colgate, Dartmouth, Norfolk State and Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Â
On the women's side, the Pirates will be looking for a ninth-consecutive team title while the men's squad will be looking to get back in the win column after UNCW took the 2024 edition of the meet.
Â
The event will be the team's first foray into outdoor competition after a successful 2025 indoor season which saw four athletes claim individual American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, highlighted by Kelly Ufodiama who swept the women's 60m and 200m on her way to MVP and Freshman of the Year honors. Ufodiama went on to earn First Team All-American accolades in the 200m at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Â
The meet will feature an altered schedule this season with a few more events taking place on Friday beginning with the women's discus kicking off at 10 a.m. Things get going on the track with the women's 1,500m at 4 p.m.
Â
The meet gets back underway on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the annual senior recognition. The men's pole vault follows the senior ceremony to begin Saturday field events with the women's 100m hurdles at 12 p.m. being the first event on the track. The meet is scheduled to conclude at 4:10 p.m. with women's 4x400m relay with the men's to follow.
