Last Time Out
The Pirates competed at the Pepsi Florida Relays at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track. Kelly Ufodiama broke the program record at 200m and ran the fastest 100m time in ECU history to pace the Pirates while three other athletes and one relay team registered top 10 marks in program history.
Â
Jocelyn Pringle had the highlight of day one with her personal-best effort in the women's hammer throw, tossing a mark of 59.59m (195-06.00). That throw moves Pringle up to fifth in program history in the event and inches her ever closer to becoming the fifth Pirate ever to break to 60-meter barrier. She would also become the third thrower in program history (Kayla Padgett, Raqurra Ishamar) to eclipse both 60m in the hammer and 20m in the weight throw indoors.
Â
Terence Booth, Jr., who tied the program's record in the 60m hurdles during the indoor season, narrowly missed the ECU mark in the 110m hurdles, running at time of 13.68 seconds for sixth place. Hector Cotto owns the record at 13.66 seconds, set in 2016.
Â
In the women's 100m hurdles, Kailey Elliott raced to a time of 13.35 seconds to move to fourth in program history. She finished 12th in the event on the day.
Â
Ufodiama continued her torrid freshman campaign, breaking the program record in the 200m with a wind-legal time of 22.80 seconds on Friday. Melicia Mouzzon owned the prior program mark with her 22.85-second effort last season. The rookie finished sixth in the event.
Â
The Round Rock, Texas native kept her success going on Saturday, finishing second in the 100m with a time of 11.13 seconds with a tailwind of 2.7m/s. Though not wind legal for record purposes, Ufodiama's time is the fastest all-conditions time in program history and is eligible for regional qualifying purposes.
Â
In the women's 4x400m, the team of Emma Hall, Elliott, Amaya Pleas and Kamoy Campbell raced to a time of 3:39.40. Though they did not advance to the final, the result ranks fifth in program history.
