May 01, 2025 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field team is back in action for one final regular season on Friday and Saturday at North Florida's East Coast Relays at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The meet will be an opportunity for the Pirates to familiarize themselves with the host track of the 2025 NCAA East First Round meet.
Â
The Pirates will be once again sending a full contingent of athletes with record-breaking aspirations.
Â
Fresh off of a program record and a top 50 mark in the NCAA, Faith Spencer will be back in action. She'll be joined by the electric ECU sprints and hurdles groups including Kelly Ufodiama, Aaliyah Brown-Muhammad, Jaidyn Ramsey, Kailey Elliott and others.
Â
Jacksinville native Jocelyn Pringle will also be back in action as she looks to finally edge over the 60m barrier in the hammer while on the men's side Shakiel Dacres and Brandon Gayle will look to build on what has already been an excellent outdoor campaign.
Â
In the longer distances, Alex Sawyer will look to stay hot in the 800m while Kaylee McCullough dips down in distance to the 1,500m fresh off of the seventh-fastest 5,000m in program history last time out.

Last Time Out
The Pirates competed at the Charlotte Invitational on last weekend at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.
Â
Faith Spencer and Jocelyn Pringle were the lone Pirates to emerge victorious on the weekend, while several others nabbed personal best performances. Spencer also broke the program record in the women's triple jump on her way to victory with a leap of 12.96m. This record comes after spencer narrowly missed the same event record indoors.
Â
Pringle's win in the women's hammer throw was her sixth event win of the 2025 calendar year and it was another PR with her toss of 59.85m moving her ever closer to becoming the fifth athlete in program history to break 60m in the event.
Â
Shakiel Dacres also represented the throws group well with a PR in the men's discus, his mark of 54.40m keeping him in fourth in ECU history. Dacres finished third in the event while also taking sixth in the shot put. Also on the men's side, Brock Lasure recorded a career best hammer throw with a mark of 52.31m to finish third in the meet.
Â
In the women's pole vault, Adeline Woodward recorded a career best 3.67m clearance to finish second place, just missing out on the top 10 in program history.
Â
On the track, the distance group had an excellent weekend. Alex Sawyer ran a PR in the 1,500m in a time of 3:49.09, good for fifth in the event and fourth in ECU history. Lily Schlossberg and Abrielle Schweitzer ran well together in the women's 1,500m with times of 4:30.52 and 4:31.63, respectively, sixth and eighth in program history. The duo finished ninth and 11th in the meet.
Â
Kaylee McCullough ran an ECU best of 17:00.23 in the 5,000m to finish third in the meet which was also good for seventh in program history.
Â
In the sprints group, Kelly Ufodiama and Kailey Elliott took third each in the 100m and 100m hurdles with times of 11.37 and 13.37 seconds, respectively.
Â
Where the sprints team did their best work, though, was in the relays. The women's 4x100m team of Aaliyah Brown-Muhammad, Jaidyn Ramsey, Skyler Harrelson and Ufodiama ran a time of 44.49 seconds which is the third-fastest time in ECU history. Meanwhile, the group of Harrelson, Amaya Pleas, Madelyn Mead and Kamoy Campbell raced to a time of 3:40.32 in the 4x400m, seventh all time. The two relay groups finished second and fourth overall in the meet.
