
Ufodiama Earns Spot at NCAA Outdoor Championships with Record-Breaking Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kelly Ufodiama qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. in both the 100m and 200m thanks to a pair of record-setting efforts to highlight the East Carolina track & field program's efforts at the NCAA East First Round this week at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.

As has become something of a habit, Ufodiama starred throughout the meet. She kicked things off on Thursday, advancing with ease through both the 100m and 200m with times of 11.18 and 22.76 seconds, respectively. Her 200m time was the second fastest of the field in the first round.

Ufodiama rolled through the 100m again on Saturday with a new program record in 11.15 seconds, finishing in second place in her heat to advance to nationals. She finished ninth overall in the quarterfinal round.

In the 200m, Ufodiama managed to top herself again with a program-record shattering time of 22.54 seconds. She finished first in her heat and second overall in the competition.

In the women's 100m hurdles, Kailey Elliott nearly worked her way into the national meet, first with a personal best by two tenths of a second in the first round, running a time of 13.15 seconds. Then, in the quarterfinal, Elliott ran another excellent time in 13.19, but missed out on a time qualifier by just two spots, finishing 14th overall.

Also on the track, the women's 4x100m squad finished 24th with a time of 45.28 seconds.

In the field events, Faith Spencer, a junior from Cary, turned in an excellent performance with a 19th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.69m (41-7.75). The program record holder matched her seed-place as she entered the meet 19th in the region as well.

Jocelyn Pringle, a sophomore native of Jacksonville, finished her phenomenal 2025 in the women's hammer throw where she improved upon her 31st-place ranking entering the meet to finish 23rd overall, in the top half of the field, with a mark of 58.87m (193-1).

On the men's side, Shakiel Dacres, a senior from Kingston, Jamaica, finished 27th in the discus with a best toss of 52.32m (171-8). Dacres entered the meet seeded 30th in the East.
