An Update From AD Jon Gilbert
June 09, 2025 | General
Pirate Nation,Â
ECU Athletics has been actively preparing for the changes that will take effect on July 1 as a result of the House vs. NCAA settlement. With Judge Wilken's official approval of the settlement on Friday, we recognize this is a significant step toward developing a model that more accurately reflects the current landscape of college athletics.
Â
This is a pivotal moment for our industry. At ECU, we are confident that we have formulated a sustainable path forward that is best for our institution. As we move into an era that includes revenue sharing with student-athletes through a licensing agreement – as well as mandated roster limits and scholarship changes for all sports – our focus remains clear.
Â
We are committed to supporting our student-athletes with the resources, development opportunities, and facilities they need to grow as leaders and pursue excellence in competition and in life. We will not waver in our commitment to achieve competitive success, both on and off the field.
Â
We are confident Pirate Nation will stand with us during this transformative time. It will take the unified effort of our Pirate Club members, fans, and our entire University community to navigate this new era and ensure a strong, sustainable future for ECU Athletics.
