Four Men’s Golfers Earn Cobalt Academic Honors

NORMAN, Okla. – East Carolina men's golfers Philip Linberg Bondestad, Tyler DeChellis, Adam Lennermark and Nathan O'Neal have been named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars the organization announced Tuesday.

The four selections are tied for the most in program history along with the 2020-21 and 2023-24 teams, while the Pirates have had at least two All-America Scholars in the same year for five-straight campaigns (2021-present). DeChellis garnered his third consecutive honor, while Bondestad is a two-time selection. Both Lennermark and O'Neal are first time recipients.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

Since 1988, 26 golfers have tallied 42 All-American Scholar honors with DeChellis being the lone Pirate with three selections. A total of 16 current or former student-athletes have been recognized for two or more years.
