Norby Named To Collegiate National Team Roster
July 04, 2025 | Baseball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina rising junior Ethan Norby is one of 26 players named to the 2025 Collegiate National Team (CNT) roster according to an announcement by USA Baseball on Friday.
Â
Norby is the seventh player in program history to be named to the final CNT roster following Jake Agnos (2018), Bryant Packard (2018), Alec Burleson (2019), Carson Whisenhunt (2021), Zach Agnos (2022) and Trey Yesavage (2023). ECU skipper Cliff Godwin served as the third base and hitting coach for the Red, White and Blue in 2018 and 2022.
Â
Norby enjoyed a standout 2025 campaign, compiling an 8-5 record with a 3.80 earned run average and 119 strikeouts against only 22 walks in 90.0 innings of work. Entering the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament, he slots second in the American Athletic Conference and 10th nationally in strikeouts while ranking 19th among NCAA Division I pitchers in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.41) and 27th in strikeouts per nine innings (11.90). Norby's 119 strikeouts are tied for the fourth most in a single season in program history.
Â
Perhaps the defining moment of Norby's two-year career in the Purple and Gold occurred back on March 7th when he struck out 19 Coastal Carolina batters in the Pirates' 7-0 victory over the then 24th-ranked Chanticleers inside Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium. He was also tabbed to the NCAA Conway Regional All-Tournament Team after a solid 7.1-inning outing in East Carolina's 11-6 regional opener win over No. 17 Florida. Norby struck out 10 and did not record a walk while limiting the Gators to three earned runs. The Kernersville, N.C. native earned Third-Team All-America honors by Perfect Game, while being tabbed a Second Team All-AAC and Conway Regional All-Tournament Team selection.
Â
Norby and the CNT members will compete in the 45ÂÂth USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series, which will begin with games on July 8 and 9 at Es Con Field in Hokkaido, Japan, at 4 a.m. ET/6 p.m. local. The next two games will be held July 11 and 12 at Hard Off Eco Stadium in Niigata, Japan, at 3 a.m. ET/5:00 p.m. local and 10 p.m. ET/12 p.m. local, respectively. The series will wrap up with a lone game in Tokyo at Jingu Stadium at 3 a.m. ET/5:00 p.m. local. Team USA leads the series with Japan 24-20 (Overall: 135-110-2).
Â
The 2025 Collegiate National Team will be led by manager Andy Stankiewicz, and he will be joined by Rusty Filter (pitching coach), Omar Johnson (first base coach), Bill Mosiello (third base coach), Carlos Muñoz (bullpen coach), and Don Wakamatsu (bench/hitting coach).
