GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina volleyball team is set to take the floor at Minges Coliseum for the first time in 2025 on Tuesday evening when the Pirates face in-state opponent Wake Forest.
The match is free for the public to attend and will be streamed on ESPN+ with Evan Budrovich (play-by-play) and Brittany Hoyt (analyst) on the call.
East Carolina (7-1) is coming off its first loss of the 2025 season as the Pirates fell in five sets to Liberty at the Tribe Invitational on Saturday.
Ellie Pate leads the Pirates in kills with 101 while Aulie Huff and Sydney Buchanan add 86 and 66 kills respectively. Kai Bailey (35 total blocks) and Carlia Northcross (32 total blocks) provide stout defense at the net and back-to-back American Conference Weekly Honorable Mention Taryn Gilreath leads the team in assists with 292.
Looking At Wake Forest
Wake Forest comes into Tuesday night on a two-match winning streak, defeating Davidson and Maryland at home this past weekend by scores of 3-0 and 3-1 respectively. Paige Crawford leads the Demon Deacons in kills with 87 and is averaging three kills per set. Becca Bellows and Rian Baker both set the table for Wake's attack with assist numbers of 171 and 143 respectively. Kelis Hawkins is the team's main threat at the net with a team-high 29 total blocks.
The Wake Forest Series
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with East Carolina 16-5 with four of the Pirates' five victories coming at home. The last meeting between the two programs was Sept. 7, 2019, at the UNF Invitational where the Demon Deacons won 3-0. ECU's last win over Wake was on Oct. 18, 1980, when the Pirates won 2-0 in the ECU Invitational at home.
