Sofia Serrano Nabs Defensive Player of the Week Recognition

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina soccer's Sofia Serrano has been named the American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Additionally, Caitlen-Star Dolan Boodram earned an Honorable Mention nod.

Serrano, a senior from Henderson, Nev., earns weekly honors for the first time in her career after leading the Pirates to a 2-0 shutout victory over North Texas on Sunday. In the game, she also notched her first career point as she assisted on AJ Mayock's second-half goal.

Serrano, who is the lone Pirate who has played every minute this season, continued to excel in leading the back line, making timely challenges to aid the team to its fourth shutout of the season.

Meanwhile, Dolan Boodram, a sophomore from London, notched her second game-winning goal of the season against the Mean Green. The score was her team-high fifth of the season as she has not contributed 13 points to pace the ECU offense.

The Honorable Mention recognition is Dolan Boodram's second of the season.
