CONWAY, S.C. - The East Carolina soccer team fell to Coastal Carolina on Sunday afternoon in a weather-delayed 2-1 decision. Lily Ridge scored her first career goal in the defeat.

The Chanticleers (3-3) came out hot in the game, scoring the game's first two goals and holding the Pirates (2-3-2) without a shot in the first half. Eleanor Ashton put the hosts up in the 30th minute before Marin Fisher knocked in a second in the 41st to extend the margin.

It took a while, but the Pirates did battle back in the second half. The team posted five shots in the final 45 minutes, including a goal from Ridge in the 71st minute, powered home on a nice pass from Emma Sheehan for the rookie's first career tally.

ECU kept pushing, earning several of their five second-half corner kicks in the waning minutes, but were ultimately unable to convert.

Notables

Olivia Dietrich made three saves in goal to keep the Pirates in it while Coastal goalkeeper Aris Lamanna made one stop.
Coastal outshot the Pirates 11-5 and 5-2 in shots on frame. Both teams recorded five corner kicks.
