CONWAY, S.C. - The East Carolina soccer team fell to Coastal Carolina on Sunday afternoon in a weather-delayed 2-1 decision. Lily Ridge scored her first career goal in the defeat.
The Chanticleers (3-3) came out hot in the game, scoring the game's first two goals and holding the Pirates (2-3-2) without a shot in the first half. Eleanor Ashton put the hosts up in the 30th minute before Marin Fisher knocked in a second in the 41st to extend the margin.Â
It took a while, but the Pirates did battle back in the second half. The team posted five shots in the final 45 minutes, including a goal from Ridge in the 71st minute, powered home on a nice pass from Emma Sheehan for the rookie's first career tally.Â
ECU kept pushing, earning several of their five second-half corner kicks in the waning minutes, but were ultimately unable to convert.Â
