
Pirates Set off to Dick Taylor Challenge Friday and Saturday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The East Carolina track & field team is set to return to competition on Friday and Saturday at North Carolina's Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge at . The meet begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, with Saturday's events starting at 11 a.m. Â
The Pirates look to build on their success in Chapel Hill after Kelly Ufodiama's exceptional weekend. Ufodiama currently holds the top time in the nation for the 60-meter with 7.14 in the quarterfinals. She broke the Pirate program record for the eighth time and will keep pushing in the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge. Â

East Carolina opened their indoor season with an impressive showing at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet, highlighted by a record-breaking performance and multiple finals appearances across the two-day competition at Kentucky's Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Kelly Ufodiama led the way by setting a new ECU program record in the women's 60-meter dash semifinals at 7.14, further strengthening her hold on the top marks in school history.
The Pirates were strong in the sprints as Tyson Tippett placed second and Jace Coleman finished fourth in the men's 60 meters, while Kailey Elliott added a fourth-place finish in the women's 60-meter hurdles.Â
Abrielle Schweitzer earned a podium spot with a third-place run in the women's mile, Jordan Good just missed the podium in the men's 600 meters, and Shakiel Dacres paced the field events with a sixth-place finish in the shot put.
