Scouting North Texas
The Mean Green enter the game with a 7-7 record and a 1-1 mark in league play after splitting a Florida swing with a win over Florida Atlantic and a loss to preseason favorite South Florida. On the year, the team is paced statistically by Aysia Procter's 12.6 points and Megan Nestor's 12.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. The team is excellent rebounding as a unit as they rank 12th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game with a remarkable 16.9 per outing while ranking 31st nationally in total rebounding and 40th in rebounding margin with an advantage of nearly plus-eight per game.
Â
Series History
The Pirates and Mean Green met for the first time in 2014 and took a 10 year pause before becoming American Conference foes. The teams have now met three times since the 2023-24 season, all going to North Texas. Notably, the teams have played a combined six overtimes over those games, finally playing their first regulation game in the conference tournament last season, a 69-58 North Texas win. Amiya Joyner led the Pirates in that game with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Â
Reclaim
Each season the Pirates choose an important word, meaningful to the team, to put on the back of their practice jerseys. In 2025-26, the team chose the word "Reclaim", signifying the group's goals after a turbulent 2024-25 of returning to their roots as a defensive minded team, getting back to their standards as role models in the community and striving for excellence in the classroom.
