Philadelphia, Pa. – Isabella Gutiérrez scored on a penalty kick in the 90th minute as East Carolina erased an early 2-0 deficit and forced a 2-2 draw against Temple on Thursday afternoon at Temple Sports Complex.

Gutiérrez recorded her second goal of the season while Caitlen-Star Dolan Boodram notched her third goal of the season for the Pirates (2-3-7, 1-1-2 American) who erased a 2-0 deficit for the first time since Oct. 2, 2025 against Florida Atlantic at home, which also ended in a 2-2 draw.

Temple got on the board in the game's first five minutes after the Pirates were unable to clear the initial blocked shot leading to a strike from the Owls' Victoria Pimenta. The Owls quickly added a second goal on a left-footed shot from Giovanna Echavarria at the 10-minute mark of the first half.

ECU capped off the high-scoring first 20 minutes as Alyssa Tucker and Gutiérrez set up Dolan Boodram for a goal in the 18th minute to get the Pirates on the board and shave the deficit to one goal.

Dolan Boodram had a chance for a brace and the game-tying goal at the 81-minute on a bending shot from a free kick but Temple's Ana Zivkovic made a lunging save to keep Temple in front late.

The Pirates had a final chance in the waning seconds and it appeared that the game was over after a couple of shot attempts but an ECU challenge resulted in a penalty kick for the Pirates and Gutiérrez delivered to secure the draw.
