GREENVILLE, N.C. – Isabella Guitérrez and Ella Steck each scored as East Carolina scrapped to a 2-2 draw against Rice on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium.

East Carolina moves to 2-4-8 overall on the season and 1-2-3 in conference play. The eighth draw for the Pirates is the most draws in a season for the program.

The Pirates shook off a shaky start to the game as Rice got on the board early with a goal at the 12-minute mark and Olivia Trick was sent off with a red card at the 18-minute mark to leave the Pirates down a player the rest of the way.

Gutiérrez got ECU on the board off of a free kick after a Rice foul was committed just outside the box to make the score 1-1 at the 28-minute mark.

ECU took the lead at the 64-minute mark of the second half after Emery Ludlam made some nifty moves and delivered a pass to Steck whose shot ricocheted off the top right corner of the goal and fell in the bottom left corner.

Rice tied the game up with a goal in the 73rd minute but neither side could convert a go-ahead opportunity in the final 17 minutes.

Olivia Dietrich made nine saves at goalie for the Pirates.
