Pirate Nation:
Homecoming Week is here, and there is plenty to celebrate. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Saturday as the Pirates open conference play against Rice at 4 p.m. Let's fill the stands with Purple and Gold and bring the energy that makes gameday in Greenville so special.
Homecoming is an opportunity to reconnect with friends, celebrate our traditions, and welcome home those who helped build them. More than 200 Pirate Letterwinners will return to campus for a weekend of festivities, including members of our 1976 and 1991 football teams. We are excited to honor their contributions and have them back to celebrate with Pirate Nation.
If you haven't secured your tickets, call the ECU Athletics Ticket Office at (252) 737-4500 or visit the Online Ticket Center.
While football had an open date last week, our other Pirate sports teams gave us plenty of reasons to cheer. Winning deserves to be celebrated, and our student athletes delivered outstanding performances across several sports.

- Volleyball is off to its best conference start in program history. Under head coach Adler Augustin, the Pirates improved to 11-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play after sweeping North Texas and UTSA over the weekend. Keep the Homecoming excitement going by joining us on Sunday, October 11, in Minges at 1 p.m. as ECU hosts Florida Atlantic.
 - Women's swimming and diving opened its season with a championship. The Pirates won the TYR Fall Classic in Doral, Florida, an event hosted by Florida International. ECU scored 1,174 points to eclipse a field that included Tulane, Florida Atlantic, Keiser, Florida Gulf Coast and St. Thomas. We look forward to welcoming the team home for meets against UNC Asheville and Pembroke on Oct. 16 and Oct. 17 in Minges Natatorium.
 - Cross country brought home team and individual titles at Lake Kristi. The Pirates cross country program hosted The Dill Family Foundation Invitational last Friday at Lake Kristi, with the Pirate women claiming the team title and men finishing third. We are so appreciative of the Dill Family for their support of this annual event. Our hosts, Parker and Becky Overton, are very gracious in allowing us to use their property for the event. The ECU women were paced by freshman Kiera McHugh, who won her first individual 6k title with a time of 22:30.6. Ava Elliott finished second for the Pirates at 22:38.7. On the men's side, Kitty Hawk native Judah Lacroix earned his first individual 8K title for the Pirates with a career best time of 25:20.6.
 - Men's golf rallied to win the Ironwood Collegiate Classic. Trailing by 11 strokes entering the final round, the Pirates shot 8-under as a team to claim their fourth title at the event in five years. Three Pirates finished in the Top 20 with Nathan O'Neal (-3, 13th), Holden Rucker (-2, 14th) and Luke Mosley (-1, 18th). Congratulations to the group on a tremendous display of determination and strong finish on our home course.
The results reflect the hard work our student-athletes and coaches put in every day. We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the support you provide across all our sports programs.
Let's carry that momentum into Homecoming weekend. Whether you are returning to campus after years away, or joining us for another Saturday with the Pirates, we look forward to celebrating with you.
Go Pirates!
