
Vercollone Named American Conference Freshman Swimming Athlete Of The Week

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina freshman Ava Vercollone has been named the American Conference Freshman Swimming Athlete of the Week according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Vercollone had an impressive debut to her collegiate career last weekend at the TYR Fall Classic, winning the 400 IM (4:24.78) in the "A" heat, placing second in the 500 free (5:00.95) in the "A" heat and recording the fastest 200 IM time at the meet, winning the "C" heat with a time of 2:04.78. The Pirates won the meet as a team, finishing first out of seven teams.
ECU returns to the pool Oct. 16-17 when they host UNC Asheville and UNC Pembroke inside Minges Natatorium.
