
Three Pirates Named to CSC Academic All-District Teams

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Three members of the East Carolina women's basketball team have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors, the organization announced Tuesday: Savannah Brooks, Jayla Hearp and Anzhané Hutton.

Brooks, a senior from Taneytown, Md., appeared in 31 games with 30 starts this season, contributing 271 points, 124 rebounds, 68 assists and 52 steals. In the classroom, Brooks has earned a 3.92 GPA as she finalizes her degree in university studies.

Hearp, a redshirt-junior from Hampton, Va., was the only player to start all 32 games this season, finishing the year with 297 points, 101 rebounds and 43 steals. In the classroom, Hearp has a 3.50 GPA as she pursues a bachelor's degree in marketing.

Hutton, a graduate student from Dallas, Texas, competed in 31 games this season, making 29 starts on her way to contributing 11.1 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. In the classroom, Hutton has earned a 3.72 GPA in her studies as she pursues a master's degree in recreation sciences.

This is the second consecutive season earning Academic All-District accolades for Hearp and Hutton.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.

As a team this season, the Pirates finished with a 22-10 record, finishing second in the American Conference with a program-record 14 conference wins and with the second highest overall win total in program history.
