
Pirates Announce Annual Team Awards

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's swimming and diving team has announced its annual end-of-season team awards after finishing the year with a dual meet record of 8-3 and a third-place finish at the American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
Frida Zuniga was named the team's Most Outstanding Diver after earning NCAA Second Team All-American honors, tallying 16 event wins and setting program records in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives. She was also an American All-Conference performer with three A finalist appearances and led all divers in the American Conference Championship with 96 points while setting a conference championship record in the platform (319.75) and became the first diver to win all three individual events at the American Conference Championship. She finished her illustrious Pirate career undefeated in home events and tallied 160 regular season points that included 20 top three finishes and was named American Conference Diver of the Week five times.
Carlie Clements earned Most Outstanding Swimmer after earning all-conference honors and making two A finalist and one B finalist appearances. She set program records in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay. The CSCAA National Invitational qualifier also set an ECU Pool Record in the 400 medley relay. In the regular season, she totaled 120 points with 18 top three finishes and nine event wins. Clements ranks first all-time in program history in the 100 and 200 backstroke, first in 50 free, first in 100 free and fifth all-time in the 200 free.
Elena Dinehart was named the team's most improved swimmer after scoring 148 points and securing 21 top three finished with 12 event wins in the regular season. Dinehart was a CSCAA National Invitational Qualifier and scored 73 points at the American Conference Championship with three A finalist appearances. She set program records in the 200 and 400 free relays and is third all-time at ECU in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley.
Kinsley Baker was tabbed the team's most improved diver after scoring 32 points and securing five top three finishes during the regular season. Baker recorded 29 points with one B finalist and two C finalist appearances at the American Conference Championship and was an NCAA Zone Qualifier. She is second all-time at ECU in the championship format platform, fifth all-time in the platform and seventh all-time in the 1-meter.
Freshman Tanith Mueller earned Most Outstanding Newcomer honors after tallying 154 points to go with 21 top three finishes and 13 event wins in the regular season. Mueller captured 58 points with two A finalist and one B finalist appearance at the American Conference Championship. She set the program record in the 400 medley relay and set the program freshman record in the 100 butterfly while achieving ECU Pool records in the 200 butterfly and 400 medley relay. Mueller was named the American Conference Freshman of the Week and also qualified for the CSCAA National Invitational. She is tied for second all-time at ECU in the 100 butterfly while ranking third all-time in the 200 butterfly, eighth all-time in the 1650-meter and ninth all-time in the 400 individual medley.
