
Track & Field Finish Their Weekend at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The East Carolina track and field team turned in a strong showing against elite national competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida from April 3–4, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and top-five relay performances.Â
The Pirates were particularly impressive on the track in relay competition, headlined by a third-place finish in the men's 4x100-meter relay. ECU clocked a time of 39.39 seconds in the finals, finishing behind only Auburn and Florida in one of the meet's premier sprint events. Â
East Carolina continued its success in the relays with a fourth-place finish in the men's 4x400-meter relay, crossing the line in 3:06.29 in a tightly contested field. The women's 4x400-meter relay team also competed well, placing 13th overall with a time of 3:40.33. Â
Individually, the Pirates saw strong performances in the sprints and field events. In the men's 400 meters, Bryson Miller led the way with a fifth-place finish, posting a time of 45.71, while teammate Chanan Mathis followed with a solid 46.45. Â
On the women's side, Faith Spencer recorded a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.95 meters, showcasing ECU's competitiveness in the field events. Kelly Ufodiama also made waves in the 200m, placing first with a 22.53.Â
Additional sprint performances included Rashun Foutain in the men's 200 meters, placing second with a time of 20.63, while Kailey Elliot posted a 24.38 in the women's 200 meters.Â
Overall, East Carolina demonstrated depth and competitiveness across multiple event groups, competing toe-to-toe with nationally ranked programs and professional athletes at one of the premier meets in collegiate track and field.Â
