
ECU And Nash Claim Top Honors At Ironwood Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's golf team closed out the regular season claiming its second team title of the year with a 13-over par 877 at the Ironwood Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event was being played at the Ironwood Golf Country Club (par-72, 6,491 yards).

Junior Nichole Nash paced the Pirates picking up her second career individual title posting a personal-best score of 211 (5-under) shooting rounds of 74, 70 and 67. Nash's first career title came two years earlier after shooting a then career-best 214 at the Ironwood Invitational.

Freshman Isabella Taylor-Stokes, who was playing as an individual, posted her career-best finish with a share of sixth place after carding a 4-over par 220 (70-76-74). Graduate senior Marta Perez claimed a share of ninth with a score of 223 (78-76-69) finishing seven over, while junior Ella Stalvey finished tied for 14th (70974-70=224) at 8-over securing four top 15 placements for the Pirates.

Senior Lisa Forss shot a 10-over par 226 (73-75-78) for a share of 25th, while freshman Karsyn Roberts finished tied for 31st following her 12-over par 228 (79-73-76) as an individual. Rounding out the play for ECU were senior Danielle Modder at tied for 35th with a score of 229 (13-over) following rounds of 75, 78 and 76 and freshman Madison Rizzo tied for 54th at 234 (80-74-80), which was 18-over par.

ECU, who moved into first place during the second-round action on Monday, extended its lead on the field following a score of 282 (6-under) carding the lowest team total of the event and tying for the second lowest team round score of the season. College of Charleston finished second (889) followed by Georgia State (890), Xavier (894) and Columbia (904).

The Pirates return to action on Monday, April 20 participating in The American Championships in Brooksville, Fla.
