Pirates Head to Texas for American Conference Championship
May 13, 2026 | Track & Field
DENTON, Texas – The East Carolina Track & Field squad set its sights on Denton, Texas, for the American Conference Outdoor Championship, starting on May 14. The Pirates showed off their talent throughout the regular season and hope their efforts will remain consistent as they pursue multiple podium finishes at conference championships. Â
ECU has authored a historic 2026 outdoor campaign, defined by record-breaking performances and a consistent presence in the national rankings. The season has been headlined by the Pirates' elite relay squads, with both the men's and women's 4x100m teams moving into the top 30 nationally.  Â
The women's quartet of Daisha Shular, Brianna Clayton, Kailey Elliott, and Kelly Ufodiama clocked a blistering 44.17 at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial to take the top spot in the American Conference, while the men's team of Jace Coleman, Ja'Darien Parker, Tyson Tippett, and Rashun Fountain posted a 39.20 that ranks 20th in the country. Â Â
This sprinting dominance extended to individual events as well, with Ufodiama securing a statement of victory in the 200m at the Florida Relays and Fountain surging to the top of the conference standings with a personal-best 20.59. Â
Beyond the sprints, the Pirates displayed impressive depth across the distance and field events. Abrielle Schweitzer and Judah LaCroix both reached new heights in the 1500m, while Jordan Good climbed into the program's all-time top ten list in the 800m.  Â
In the field, Faith Spencer and Jared Harrell remained podium threats in the triple jump, delivering standout performances against premier competition at the Florida Relays. Â Â
Throws specialist Macy Dulaney added to the team's momentum with a runner-up finish in the shot put during the final weeks of the regular season. Â Â
With several school records challenged and numerous personal bests set, the Pirates now turn their focus to the American Conference Outdoor Championships with significant momentum.Â
