
Pirates Finish Three-Meets Through the Weekend

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track and field team wrapped up a busy and competitive weekend across three meets, highlighted by strong performances and continued momentum heading into the postseason. The Pirates split their squad between the Duke Twilight on Sunday, the Torrin Lawrence Memorial on Friday and Saturday, and the Aggie Classic, where a select group of four student-athletes represented the program.Â
AGGIE CLASSICÂ
At the Aggie Classic, a small but impactful group of Pirates delivered strong performances in the field events, highlighted by multiple top finishes in the shot put. On the women's side, Macy Dulaney led the way with a runner-up finish, recording a mark of 14.57 meters, while Anika Dupreez added a 10th-place effort at 11.88 meters. On the men's side, Brandon Gayle secured a third-place finish with a throw of 15.79 meters, with Shakiel Dacres close behind in fourth at 15.61 meters, rounding out an efficient and productive showing for East Carolina.Â
TORRIN LAWERENCE MEMORIALÂ
At the Torrin Lawrence Memorial, the Pirates delivered one of their most impressive showings of the season, highlighted by record-setting relay performances and a wave of personal-best marks that boosted East Carolina's standing both in the conference and nationally. Â
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Ciara Clayton, Kailey Elliott, Brianna Clayton and Kelly Ufodiama set a new school record with a time of 3:35.10, ranking first in the conference and 39th in the nation. Â
The women's 4x100-meter relay also made history, as Daisha Shular, Brianna Clayton, Kailey Elliott and Ufodiama clocked a season-best 44.17, the second-fastest time in program history, good for first in the conference and 29th nationally. Â
On the men's side, the 4x100-meter relay team of Jace Coleman, Ja'Darien Parker, Tyson Tippett and Rashun Fountain posted a season-best 39.20, ranking second in school history, second in the conference and 20th in the nation. Â
Individually, Rashun Fountain led the way with a 20.59 personal best in the 200 meters, moving to first in the conference, fourth in program history and 46th nationally, while Jace Coleman added a 10.34 personal best in the 100 meters to rank seventh in the conference. Â
Chanan Mathis recorded a personal-best 46.37 in the 400 meters (seventh in the conference), and Jordan Good notched a personal-best 1:50.40 in the 800 meters, ranking eighth in the conference and seventh in school history, rounding out a strong and impactful weekend for the Pirates.Â

DUKE TWILIGHTÂ
At the Duke Twilight on Sunday, the Pirates capped the weekend with a collection of solid performances and personal-best efforts against a deep and competitive field. East Carolina saw production across multiple event groups, highlighted by Jalaia Creary's personal-best 57.56 in the 400 meters, while Kennedy Hughes-Thompson added a personal-best 14.19 in the 100-meter hurdles. Â
On the track, the Pirates showed depth in the sprint events with Deshay Turner, Alex Hopkins, Amilia Speller and Dakota Minor all competing in the 100 and 200 meters, while Creary also contributed in the 200.Â
In the distance events, Abrielle Schweitzer led the way with a personal-best 4:24.52 in the 1500 meters, followed closely by Katrina Ford, who also posted a personal best. Navaya Zales added another personal-best performance in the event, as the Pirates continued to build momentum in the middle-distance group. Â
On the men's side, Judah LaCroix highlighted the distance squad with a personal-best 3:53.00 in the 1500 meters, with Will Palopoli and Elliott Kleckner also recording personal-best times.Â
In the field events, Lydia Simmons paced the throws group with an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw, while Macy Dulaney and Cassidy Clark added top-20 finishes in the discus. Â
Kira Hawaaboo contributed in the long jump, rounding out a well-balanced showing for East Carolina as the Pirates continue to sharpen their performances heading into championship season.Â
