Melissa Spain Named Licensing Director Of The Year By NIL Store

CHICAGO, Ill. – Melissa Spain, East Carolina Athletics Trademark Licensing Coordinator, has been named the Licensing Director of the Year (Group II) according to an announcement by the NIL Store. The honor recognizes the name, image and likeness director who went above and beyond on behalf of their student-athletes in collaboration with the NIL Store.
"Melissa was extremely strategic over this past year to increase our licensing revenue over a million dollars for the first time in school history," ECU Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert said. "Building the brand of East Carolina Athletics is a priority and Melissa has elevated our visibility in a very intentional manner. Well done."
Spain, who is in her eighth year at East Carolina, was promoted to her current role in April of 2022, now managing all retail operations and logo licensing for the athletic department. The East Carolina NIL Store is a one-stop-shop to support East Carolina student-athletes and place industry-leading payments directly into their pockets.
