Men’s Golf Earns Platform Golf Team Academic Award

NORMAN, Okla. – The East Carolina men's golf program is a 2025-26 Platform Golf Team Academic Award recipient the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) announced Wednesday. The Pirates compiled a program-best 3.84 GPA for the 2025-26 academic year earning the Presidents Special Recognition (3.5 or higher) while marking the 14th time since 2009 garnering the team accolade.
ECU was one of 174 NCAA Division I teams recognized for having a team GPA of 3.00 or higher (one of 88 with 3.5 or better) and one of three institutions (Rice, UAB) from the American Conference to earn the Presidents Special Recognition. Fellow league members Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, South Florida and UTSA were among those lauded for All-Academic Team honors (3.0 or higher).
Six golfers in Philip Linberg Bondestad, Davis DeLille, Luke Mosley, Drew O'Neal, Nathan O'Neal and Holden Rucker were selected as 2025-26 Cobalt All-America Scholars. Bondestad and Drew O'Neal were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large All-District selections, while all nine members from the 2025-26 squad earned inclusion on the American Conference All-Academic Team. The Pirates also took home The American's Team Academic Excellence Award for the highest GPA among the 11 men's golf sport programs.
To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year.
