Whitney Marks was elevated to the associate director of marketing & fan engagement June 7, 2017. Her primary responsibilities include developing and executing marketing efforts for women's soccer and baseball.Â
Marks was initially hired by ECU in August 2013 as a graduate assistant in the marketing department, developing and implementing plans and promotional calendars for the women's soccer and softball programs. She was promoted to assistant director of athletics marketing on June 1, 2015.Â
Following her arrival, the women's soccer program saw a 96 percent increase in average attendance between the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Since 2013 she's initiated nine of the top-10 Johnson Soccer Stadium crowds and has helped set the highest attendance mark three different times.Â
Her marketing efforts with the Pirates' baseball program has led to a 32 percent increase in average attendance at Clark-LeClair Stadium. During that duration ECU saw the third-highest crows in stadium history on March 15, 2016 when the Purple & Gold hosted North Carolina.Â
From 2014-15 Marks led the marketing initiatives for ECU softball which saw a 34 percent average attendance increase and recorded the top and sixth-largest crowd's in the facility's history.Â
A member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators, Marks graduated from York College (Pa.) with a bachelor's degree in sport management in May 2012 and  earned her master's in exercise and sport science from East Carolina in July 2016.
