Bio
An established veteran on the Pirates’ offensive line who has progressed from a walk-on roster invitee to depth chart status and subsequent game-day action in less than three seasons … Initially joined the ECU program in the fall of 2016 and made valuable scout contributions before providing quality and reliable depth while earning playing time as a junior … Penciled in once again as a key reserve, most likely at the center position and/or one of the guard slots … Could also see viable action as a member of various special teams units to gain added on-field reps … Has played for three different position coaches at ECU (Geep Wade/’16-17, Don Mahoney/’18 and Steve Shankweiler/’19).
2019: Played in three games off the bench as a junior … Appeared in late season contests against USF, Cincinnati and SMU …Was part of ECU’s two most explosive outings of the year, helping the Pirates rack up a combined 94 points, along with 1,282 yards on 164 snaps (7.8 ypp) in tilts vs. the Bearcats (87-638) and Mustangs (77-644) … Part of a line that also provided protection for a school-record 535 passing yards against Cincinnati before following up with a 498-yard outing in Dallas vs. SMU … Also experienced action on special teams.
2018: Opened sophomore campaign on the two-deep as a back-up right guard but was pressed into action at center because of injuries to John Spellacy and Peyton Winstead … Did not play in the first seven games, but experienced a notable number of snaps in ECU’s last five (5) contests – vs. Memphis, Tulane, Connecticut, Cincinnati and NC State … Contributed in the Pirates’ two most productive offensive showings of the season, following a 556-yard effort vs. the Tigers with a 657-yard performance against the Huskies that also included high-water marks in scoring (55 points), rushing yards (415) and first downs (34) at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium … Additionally, helped ECU rack up 450 yards of total offense (360 passing) vs. the Green Wave on the road.
2017: Did not experience game action … Continued schematic and physical growth while on program’s scout squad, preparing defensive unit on a weekly basis as an interior offensive lineman.
2016: Earned roster slot as a walk-on prior to the season opener … Redshirted as a member of the developmental team.
High School: A three-year letterman for coaches Bobby Collins and Miles Aldridge at Hough High School … A team captain who helped prep program to a conference title as a two-way standout during senior year … Selected to all-conference squad and named offensive MVP … Starred on both lines of scrimmage, posting eight sacks on the defensive side and allowing none on offense … Academically, graduated with a 4.0 (weighted) grade point average.
Personal: Full name is Jaison Briant Fournet … Born at Charlotte, N.C. … Son of William and Terri Fournet … A management major … Recognized for strong academic work with inclusion on the ECU Honor Roll during the 2018 and 2020 spring semesters.
