One of college basketball's most respected figures, Silvey Dominguez begins his third season at East Carolina and second as assistant to the head coach in 2021-22. He served as a consultant and analyst during the 2019-20 campiagn.

Dominguez arrived at Wyoming after one season at Utah the where he was Rick Majerus' top assistant for the 2002-03 campaign and helped tutor future NBA Draft overall No. 1 pick Andrew Bogut. That year the Utes won the Mountain West regular-season title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Ā
He spent the 2001-02 season as an assistant coach at UTEP.Ā
Prior to that, he was an assistant for five years at USC (1996-2001) under head coach Henry Bibby. In his final season at USC, the Trojans advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. USC made two other postseason tournament appearances with him as a member of its coaching staff - going to the NCAAs in 1997 and the NIT in 1999.Ā
Three of the players Dominguez recruited to USC were selected in the NBA Draft. Brian Scalabrine and Jeff Trepagnier were chosen by New Jersey and Cleveland, respectively, in 2001. Sam Clancy went to Philadelphia in 2002.Ā
Dominguez served as an assistant coach on Kentās staff at Saint Maryās (Calif.) from 1991-96 where his primary responsibility was coordinating the Gael defense, which ranked first in the West Coast Conference in 1991-92, allowing 66.6 points per game, then surrendering an equally stingy 66.8 points per contestĀ under Dominguezās guidance in 1994-95.Ā
Dominguez's coaching career has been primarily in the West. He began as an assistant at Western New Mexico in 1979. From there, he coached at Southern Colorado (1984-86) before joining Boyd Grant's staff at Colorado State in 1986, helping the Rams reach the NIT semifinals in 1987. He was there for two seasons, before joining Minton's staff at Air Force in 1988before he moved to Saint Maryās in 1991.Ā
A native of Grants, N.M., Dominguez graduated from New Mexico in 1976 with a bachelorās degree in political science and Spanish. He received his masterās in business administration from Western New Mexico in 1981.Ā

Dominguez came to ECU following two seasons (2017-19)Ā at Montana State University, the secondĀ as an assistant coach, after three seasons (2014-17) as an assistant coach on Ernie Kentās staff at Washington State.

Previously, Dominguez spent three seasons at Air Force (2011-14) in Colorado. Dominguez has coached at 13 different schools, including two stints at Air Force, and brings nearly three decades of experience to the Washington State program, having coached at the Division I level for the last 27 years and been a part of three NCAA Tournament teams and two NIT squads.

Prior to his second stint at the USAFA, Dominguez served as an assistant coach at Lamar University to current ECU Associate Head Coach Steve Roccaforte from 2008-10. He was the Cardinals' recruiting coordinator, oversaw the basketball program's contract with Nike and assisted with game scheduling.Ā

Dominguez spent the 2007-08 season as the director of basketball operations at New Mexico during Steve Alford's first year in Albuquerque. He was responsible for coordinating team travel, scheduling, academics and maintaining Alford's daily schedule. The Lobos posted a 24-9 record - a nine-win improvement from the year before - and advanced to the MasterCard Postseason NIT.

He previously served on Steve McClain's staff at Wyoming from 2003-07. The Cowboys won 57 games while Dominguez was the recruiting coordinator and handled scheduling in addition to his on-court coaching and scouting responsibilities.Ā
