Jason Martinez is in his second season as assistant strength and conditioning coach at East Carolina, primarily working with the men’s basketball team.
Martinez came to ECU after one season (2019-20) as assistant director of sports performance at Wake Forest University for the Demon Deacons’ men’s basketball program. He assisted in all aspects of the sports performance program including program design/implementation, nutrition, travel responsibilities and applied sport science.
Prior to Wake Forest, Martinez served as a graduate assistant athletic performance coach at Lindenwood University where he was responsible for the all strength and conditioning aspects for women’s soccer, field hockey, women’s basketball, as well as men’s volleyball. He also assisted with athletic performance sessions and program design for football and men’s basketball.
Prior to Lindenwood, Martinez spent time with the Olympic strength and conditioning staffs at Clemson, Penn State, as well as Manhattan College as a strength and conditioning Intern.
A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Martinez graduated from Manhattan College with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in May of 2017 and completed his master’s degree in human performance from Lindenwood University in May of 2019.
Martinez is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
