He spent his first season at ECU assisting with the butterfly/IM and backstroke/breaststroke groups then worked with a developmental group the following season.
During his third season as a member of the coaching staff, Dawley worked primarily with the breaststroke swimmers, which set nine school records in 2012 and captured one gold medal at the C-USA Invitational. He continued his work with the group last season.
Unable to compete as a senior due to a back injury, Dawley served as a student assistant coach and worked primarily with middle distance swimmers. As a junior he competed in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly at the SEC Championships. Dawley transferred to South Carolina at then end of the 2006-07 season from Indiana, where he was a member of the Big Ten champions as a freshman.
A native of Allen, Texas, Dawley was a three-time All-America performer and a four-year all-state and all-regional selection. He was also a Junior National Finalist in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly.
