Brad Keller was named an assistant coach for the ECU women's soccer program in February of 2018.
Â
"I am very excited to add Brad to our staff," Hamilton said. "He will be very impactful to each of our student athletes in their time here at ECU. Brad brings a great knowledge of the game that will help push the program in the direction we want it to go. He also has a tremendous work rate when it comes to recruiting and brings a great ability to identify players not only that excel on the field but have the highest character off the field, which is key to being successful in this program."
During the 2019 season, Keller helped three members of the ECU defense earn honors from the AAC. Jayda Hylton-Pelaia became the first ECU player to earn Preseason Player of the Year honors since moving to the AAC in 2014 when she was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Although Hylton-Pelaia’s season was cut short due to an injury, goalkeeper Melanie Stiles and defender Kim Sanford both earned Second-Team All-AAC honors, the second straight season that multiple Pirates earned postseason honors. Keller also helped Daria Draovitch finish her Pirate career with nine assists, including eight in her two seasons playing under Keller’s tutelage, to move into a tie for eighth all-time at ECU.
In his first season in Greenville, Keller helped guide the Pirates to a 10-6-3 record and an appearance in the AAC Championship Semifinals. Under his guidance, Jayda Hylton-Pelaia and Courtney Cash were named to the AAC All-Conference Second-Team while Grace Doran was named to the All-Conference Rookie Team.
Prior to coming to ECU, Keller spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Vermont. Keller helped guide the Catamounts to a 9-9-2 record and a spot in their first-ever America East Conference tournament championship game in 2017.
Â
The 2016 Vermont squad made its second consecutive trip to the semifinal round of the America East Tournament - a first for the program. Three players earned America East honors – Sarah Martin landed was a Second Team All-Conference selection while Julia Smith and Brooke Jenkins made the All-Rookie Team. It marked the 12th straight season where a new Cat had garnered All-Rookie honors. In net, junior keeper Coco Speckmaier finished the season tied for the ninth-best goals-against average in program history at 1.05. She also cracked the top-10 in shutouts (6) and shattered the minutes played record (1,802).Â
Â
Keller arrived at Vermont after one season as a member of the women's soccer coaching staff at the University of New Mexico.
Â
Keller has a rich soccer background. He served as the girl's head coach at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Arizona from 2013-15 and was head coach of multiple teams for the Sereno Soccer Club from 2012-15.
Â
A native of Scottsdale, Keller played one year of professional soccer for his hometown Phoenix FC Wolves of the United Soccer League in 2013 and also competed for the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Futbol Club in Cancun, Mexico.
Â
Keller played collegiately at the University of Washington from 2007-10. He appeared in 64 games, in the Huskies' backfield. He earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors in 2008 and 2009 and was a two-time Academic All-Pac-10 Selection in 2009 and 2010.
