Since his arrival McIntire has coached the most conference medalists, conference champions, and highest placing zone qualifiers in program history, and most Conference Diver of the Week honorees.Â
Year three would see the Pirates have an all-time best year for the women’s diving program up to that point. Frida Zuniga would become the first diver since 2018 in the program to be named a two-time American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week winner. Zuniga claimed the 2024 AAC 3-meter diving event after setting a school and conference record where she was named AAC Diver of the Meet and became the first conference champion since 1988.Â
The Pirates qualified their largest squad to NCAA Diving Zone Championships in school history, with Zuniga making school history earning a spot in the finals in two events, while also besting her school record in the platform at the competition. ECU divers also defeated ACC member Georgia Tech at their dual meet.
Â
McIntire’s second year would see the Pirates take a huge set forward in the diving well. Since joining The American, ECU would have A finalist for the first time in all diving events. Zuniga set the ECU and freshman platform record as well as the freshman 3-meter record. For the first time in the AAC, ECU had its entire squad place in the top 16 in the 3-meter dive. Zuniga capped off the year becoming the first female diver in program history to reach the finals at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championship.
Â
In his initial year with the program, McIntire’s entire squad placed in the top 16 of the 2022 AAC Conference Championship in the 1-meter dive with all members posting personal best scores.
During his four years at FAU, McIntire coached multiple conference champions, medalists, NCAA Zone qualifiers and finalists, as well as having at least one diver reach the A-final at the conference championships in each event every year.
Under McIntire’s tutelage, FAU’s Logan Downey was named 2020 and 2021 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Diver-of-the-Year. Selina Staudenherz also earned Conference USA Freshman Diver-of-the-Year accolades with McIntire’s guidance, while he was named the 2021 CCSA Diving Coach-of-the-Year.
As a student-athlete at FAU, McIntire earned the CCSA Male Diver-of-the-Year, CCSA Most Outstanding Male Diver of the Championship, and reached the final at the NCAA Zone Championships during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. He claimed titles after finishing first in the 1-meter (398.35) and 3-meter events (414.55) where he broke his school and conference records in both events.
The Neptune Beach, Fla. native also gained coaching experience working with athletes at Boca Raton High School where he guided one diver to the state championship for the first time in school history – the school has had divers represented in the state championship every year since. As a coach, he also mentored a diver who won the USA Diving National Championship, as well as mentored multiple AAU national champions.
