After falling behind 2-0, the Pirates went on a scoring rally, taking an eventual six point lead by a score of 16-10. Once DePaul scored the go-ahead point, they kept the lead and eventually earned the game one win by a score of 30-26.
In game two, the Blue Demons jumped ahead early in the game, holding on to a three point margin. Sarah Vick cut the DePaul lead to two and the Pirates went on a scoring streak that gave them the lead for a moment's time. DePaul went up on the Pirates on point 15, and did not relinquish the lead at that point. The Blue Demons went on to win game two 30-21.
The Pirates showed no signs of improvement in game three as DePaul went ahead once again, holding on to a two point lead. The Pirates managed to tie things up at point six, but DePaul jumped ahead again and would allow East Carolina to score only six more points thereafter. With a 22-12 lead, DePaul scored its final eight points with Janet Cotter serving.
