Ten Pirate men stand among the top 75. Junior Matt Walker (Charleston, S.C.) is ranked in the top 25 in two events, 16th in the 200 free and 20th in the 100 free. Walker also ranks 38th in the 500 free. Junior Dean Cheek (Essex, England) ranks 46th in the 500 free and 36th in the 1650 free. Senior Chris Miller (Newport News, Va.) ranks 43rd in the 100 fly.
Four sophomores were ranked for the men's team Tyler Devinney (Wendell, N.C.) is ranked 53rd in the 50 free, Andrew Dragunas (Montreal, Canada) ranks 52 in the 200 fly and Brad Bumgarner (Huntersville, N.C.) ranks 54th in the 200 fly. Sophomore Casey Cronin (East Providance, R.I.) ranks in four individual events: 23rd in the 200 IM, 31st in the 400 IM, 45th in the 200 free and 50th in the 100 free.
Five relay teams are ranked among the top 75 for the men's team. The 800 free relay team of Cronin, Walker, Cheek and Gavin Stark ranks eighth. The 200 medley team of Kelly Hendrick, Kenny Flory, Miller and Devinney ranks 41st. Casey Charles, Flory, Miller and Walker combined for the 54th ranking in the 400 medley relay. The 200 free relay team of Devinney, Hendrick, Jonathan Keefe, and Stark ranks 40th and the 400 free relay team of Stark, Cronin, Walker and Devinney is ranked 27th.
Eight Lady Pirates are ranked among the top 75. Sophomore Diane Parker (Tucker, Ga.) is ranked among the top 25 in three events: ninth in the 100 fly, 16th in the 200 IM and 22nd in the 200 fly. Parker also ranks 30th in the 100 breast. Sophomore Lindsay Holman (Victor, N.Y.) ranks 63rd in the 50 free.
Four freshman are ranked for the Lady Pirates. Holy Williams (Palmyra, N.Y,) ranks in three events: 40th in the 400 IM, 59th in the 200 fly and 69th in the 200 back. Meredith Lindgren (Miford, Conn.) is ranked 25th in the 100 breast and 51st in the 200 breast. Adrienne Williams (Lansing, N.Y.) is ranked 42nd in the 50 free and Jackie Royce (Richmond, Va.) is 65th in the 500 free.
Four relay teams are ranked for the women. The 200 medley team of Martha Snead, Lindgren, Parker and Adrienne Williams ranks 49th. The 400 medley relay team of Holly Williams, Lindgren, Parker and Holman ranks 31st and the 200 free relay group of Snead, Sarah Hunt, Lindsay Holman and Adrienne Williams are 30th. The 400 free relay team of Snead, Holman, Holly Williams and Parker is ranked 44th.
"We swam so fast for the first semester," said Head Coach Rick Kobe after today's announcement. "It is exciting to see this many kids at this point in the season among the elite."
The Pirates return to action January 3, in West Palm Beach as they take on the University of Vermont.
