Roberts joins the Pirate staff after serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Eastern Kentucky University, for the past two seasons. While at Eastern Kentucky, she served as the recruiting coordinator for the Colonels as well as organized events and fundraisers for the Lady Colonels Booster Club. Roberts performed duties as the defensive coordinator with EKU, and also helped with scouting reports and in-game preparations.
Prior to her stint at Eastern Kentucky, Roberts was an assistant at Tennessee Tech during the 1999-2000 season. During that year, the Golden Eaglettes earned Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament championships and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
After playing her first two years of collegiate basketball at the University of Kentucky, Roberts transferred to EKU where she led the Lady Colonels to their most successful season with their first-ever OVC Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. She received the Ed Steitz Award for having the top three-point field goal percentage in the nation (.488) and had her uniform, practice gear, and shoes enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. Roberts was named to the All-OVC first team during both her campaigns at Eastern Kentucky and was named OVC Player of the Year as a senior.
Roberts also was a star at the high school level, earning first team all-state honors and MVP of the Eighth Region during her senior year after leading Eminence High School to the regional playoffs. She also was a participant in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Game as a senior.
"Chrissy Roberts is the last ingredient to our coaching staff," said Baldwin. "Her experience as a player and recruiting coordinator will be a great asset. I am very pleased with the staff we have assembled in Brady (Sallee), Chrissy and Melissa (Kolbe), and am anxious to get started with the upcoming season."
The 26-year-old Roberts graduated from EKU in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and in 1999 she earned a master's degree in sports administration, also from Eastern Kentucky.
