
ECU Swim Teams Fall to Virginia Tech

The Lady Pirates were defeated, 154-91, and the men lost, 149-94.
For the Lady Pirates (6-2), sophomore Diane Parker (Tucker, Ga.) earned first place in the 200 IM (2:06.62) and the 200 fly (2:05.00). Senior diver Carrie Wright (Lansing, N.Y.) took first place on the one meter board (233.25).
For the men (6-2), junior Dean Cheek (Essex, England) earned first in the 1000 free (9:45.34) and the 500 free (4:37.69). Junior Matt Walker (Charleston, S.C.) took first in the 200 free (1:41.36) and sophomore Casey Cronin (East Providence, RI) earned first in the 200 IM (1:52.69).
"We got beat pretty bad," said Head Coach Rick Kobe after today's loss. "We swam okay. We are training really hard and are not going to rest until the Championship meet. We just ran into a much better team this weekend."
The Pirates hit the road and return to action next Saturday, February 1, at UMBC at 1 p.m.
